You can finally get your dream smile with just one simple cosmetic procedure.
There is a lot of power behind smiling. Smiling can elevate our mood and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. Of course, if your smile is something you’re embarrassed about then you may not smile as much as you should. In this case, our Lansing, MI, dentists Dr. Michael Hutcheson and Dr. Laura Dyras are here to offer a wonderful cosmetic treatment.
Are you dealing with?
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Uneven or worn teeth
- Teeth that appear too short (a “gummy smile”)
- Misshapen teeth
If you are facing any of these issues (or perhaps even more than one of these issues) then it’s time to ask the cosmetic dentists at Dyras Dental about veneers.
What are dental veneers?
Veneers are tooth-colored shells that are often made from porcelain (since porcelain provides a similar translucency to natural teeth). Veneers are specially made to cover the front area of your teeth to hide flaws without requiring the same extensive tooth preparation that other restorations like dental crowns need.
Veneers will be made to match the color, shape and size that you want for your new smile. You can choose to get several veneers or just one (if you are only dealing with one flawed tooth).
What goes into getting dental veneers?
Since all veneers are custom made to fit a patient’s teeth, it will take a couple trips to our office before you can get your new restorations.
Here are the steps involved in getting veneers:
- Tooth preparation: While dental crowns require a lot more tooth enamel to be removed, you will still need to have a small amount of enamel shaved off the front of your teeth so that there is enough room for your veneers. Many times this can be done without anesthetic, as the adjustment is so minimal.
- Impressions: Once the teeth are shaped correctly, we will take molds of your mouth. These impressions will be sent to a dental lab where they will make your restorations from scratch. Each veneer is uniquely crafted for each individual tooth.
- Placement: Once your veneers are made, you will come back in so that we can do your cosmetic fitting. This is your chance to see how your new smile would look with veneers so that you can determine whether or not you are satisfied with your new smile. From there the veneers will be permanently bonded to your teeth and polished.
